July 9 - Amended Lawsuit Alleges City Missteps Worsened Palisades Fire Damage

An amended lawsuit filed on behalf of over 3,300 Palisades Fire victims included new claims that the City of Los Angeles and its Department of Water and Power (LADWP) failed to take proper steps to prevent or lessen the damage from the Palisades wildfire. The complaint says the DWP neglected to inspect and repair a large reservoir that remained empty during the fire, causing critical water shortages for firefighters. It also claims that delayed power shutoffs may have contributed to the fire’s spread, and that the city failed to follow brush clearance rules.
