January 28 – Video Surfaces Tied to Fire’s Origin

A newly surfaced gas station security video may be the most direct evidence yet linking Southern California Edison to the deadly Eaton Fire. Captured on January 7, 2025, the video shows what appear to be electrical sparks near an SCE transmission tower in Eaton Canyon just minutes before flames erupted. A lawsuit filed by a homeowner whose house was destroyed includes this footage, along with expert analysis suggesting the spark that started the fire came from SCE equipment. Additional videos from nearby residents also show fire igniting at the base of the same tower around the same time.
