April 10 - Soil Contamination Found Near Eaton and Palisades Fires

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has finally shared preliminary results from soil testing from around the Eaton and Palisades fire burn zones. The results revealed concerning levels of lead and other toxic substances. In areas downwind of the Eaton fire, up to 80% of soil samples exceeded California’s health standards for lead, raising significant health concerns. Testing also found "hot spots" of contamination, including arsenic, in the Palisades fire area, with some properties exceeding safe levels.
