August 25 - Fire Victims Push for Stronger Insurance Enforcement 

Frustrated by delays and denials, Eaton Fire victims and local lawmakers are demanding that California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara take stronger action against insurers. The Eaton Fire Survivors Network issued a report accusing Lara of failing to enforce existing consumer protections and called on him to finish investigations, prioritize complaints, and require more transparency from insurers. A major focus is smoke damage claims, which survivors say have been wrongly denied under restrictive policy language.
