May 12 - Altadena Homeowner Sues FAIR Plan Over Inadequate Payout After Eaton Fire

California Fire Victims Law Center attorneys Kiley Grombacher and Bryan Aylstock have filed a lawsuit on behalf of Luis Cazares, an Altadena homeowner, against the California FAIR Plan for bad faith and breach of contract. Cazares alleges the plan underpaid his claim for extensive fire and smoke damage that rendered his home uninhabitable. The lawsuit points to dangerous levels of lead in the residual ash around his home, supported by a study from Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The attorneys argue that despite paying premiums, the FAIR Plan has failed to offer sufficient compensation, leaving him unable to repair his home. This case is part of a larger trend of legal action against FAIR Plan, with fire victims alleging underpayment and withheld claims documents.
