September 8 – FAIR Plan Still Denying Smoke Damage Claims Despite Court Ruling 

The Los Angeles Times reports California’s FAIR Plan continues to eject smoke damage claims from January’s fires, despite losing in court and facing state sanctions. The insurer swapped its old “permanent damage” rule for a new requirement of “distinct, demonstrable alteration,” which attorneys say still blocks victims from the coverage they are owed.
