September 5 - Gov. Newsom Pressures FAIR Plan on Smoke Damage Claims

Gov. Gavin Newsom urged the California FAIR Plan to speed up and fairly process thousands of smoke damage claims from the January Los Angeles wildfires. His letter follows more than 200 complaints and a cease-and-desist order from the Insurance Commissioner over the plan’s use of an illegal smoke damage standard. The FAIR Plan says it is working with regulators to revise its policies and has already paid some claims.
