October 3 - California FAIR Plan seeks largest home insurance rate hike in years

The California FAIR Plan has requested a 35.8% average rate increase that could take effect as soon as next spring. The proposed hike would raise premiums most sharply for homeowners in high wildfire-risk areas, while some in lower-risk regions could see decreases. The plan is under review by the California Department of Insurance, which continues to investigate the FAIR Plan’s handling of wildfire smoke damage claims from recent fires.
